Namesco are another web hosting provider with a long pedigree. Dating back as far as 1996 ! Namesco merged with Simply.com in 2004. If you are looking for the best UK hosting, popular alternatives are Evo Hosting, Native Space and EZPZ all of whom offer CPanel hosting.

Apart from web hosting and domain names they are also are a provider of broadband.

All the hosting packages include installation scripts for wordpress, come with free Google adwords voucher and have daily backups.

To be able to host multiple domains / websites though you will have to choose the “designer” package.

In common with many web hosts you can save money on the Namesco hosting packages by signing up for a year and make the biggest savings by going for a 2 year package. Namesco support for web hosting is available by phone (UK based and 0845 number) as well as Email.

GoDaddy Hosting Review

GoDaddy hosting pops up everywhere. They are massive in the USA and are the world’s largest domain name registrar.

As seems typical with the USA hosting providers there is a massive amount of webspace with even the budget plan. The only reason you might need to choose the Deluxe plan if you want to be able to host multiple web sites. All the hosting plans at GoDaddy come with easy installation of wordpress as well as all the other popular installations such as Joomla and Drupal.

One of the features of the GoDaddy hosting pricing is that while there is no long term contract requirement, the longer you commit for the cheaper it gets. Also something I noticed on the pricing is that although displayed in British pounds you are charged in US dollars so there might be a bit of fluctuation there.

1and1 Hosting Review

1&1 hosting / 1and1 hosting, I’m never quite sure how they prefer to be known are one of the largest web hosting companies around. 1 and 1 UK is a subsidiary of 1 and 1 AG which is a German company.

I’ve got some domains registered through 1and1 and that has always been fine. Cheap and efficient.

When I was looking for the best wordpress web hosting I did see a lot of bad reviews out there for 1and1 but it’s important to remember that 1 and 1 is a huge web hosting provider so has literally millions of customers. As most people will know a satisfied customer doesn’t tell anyone about his or her experience but a pissed off customer will tell anyone that will listen ! Anyway that’s what this wordpress hosting review site is all about so please, if you have a hosting experience with 1and1, write a review and help others make an informed choice.

Easily Limited have over 100’000 customers from over 150 countries.

Support seems to be good – all UK in house with a free phone number in office hours and 24 hour email response. Nice to see a free phone number that is for support not just sales ! On the fallback side they have the 30 day money back guarantee.

LCN Hosting Review

LCN hosting who have been around since the year 2000 have a specific hosting package for WordPress. It features 100MB of disk space and 1GB of data transfer as well as 5 Email accounts which you can access via the web or have them forwarded. WordPress is available with the 1 click installation.

Not a massive package but it’s important to be realistic about how much space you will use and traffic you actually will have rather than paying for something you will never use fully. The price at the time of writing is just £20 for a whole year which seems very good value so really interested to get some reviews on LCN hosting from existing customers.

If you are looking for reliable UK hosting popular hosts include evo hosting, ezpz hosting, native space, webhosting UK and Heart Internet Hosting.

A 30 day money back guarantee is always nice to see and LCN offer that. I have had a look at the terms & conditions and there is nothing unusual there. The final thing I wanted to mention is that I saw that LCN hosting are giving free or cheap web hosting to UK registered charities. Oh and now I notice they are carbon neutral too.

Your Choice Budget Review

Your Choice Budget appear to offer only one hosting package  which is refreshingly simple. Seems to be only available as an annual fee but it is cheap at £35 for the year at the time of writing.

What you get is :

25MB storage – sounds like nothing but as they point out the front page of their site could be stored over 800 pages over with this much space. Still as an installation of WordPress 2.7 takes 7 MB and  if you are planning on having masses of content, photos and videos be aware of this.

500MB data transfer – again sounds stingy, especially compared to some US hosting companies but as Your Choice Budget point out a simple site like theirs can take 16500 page views a month with this package.

One.com Hosting Review

Originating in Denmark One.com hosting has over half a million clients so must be doing something right. Right ?

There are 3 different hosting packages with One.com, the only difference between them being the amount of disk space ( storage ) offered. The amount of traffic / transfer allowed is “unlimited”, which always makes me a bit suspicious. Then again this is a big company so it would be great to get reviews from anyone getting a lot of traffic on these cheap hosting plans. It makes sense then to start out with the cheapest package and upgrade if and when the need arises. I queried One.com on this and it is easy to do ( automated ) in the control panel, and you only pay the difference.

One.com don’t have fantastico on their control panel so this means a manual upload of wordpress would be required. Another point to note is that only one domain ( but unlimited subdomains ) is allowed per account.

I always like to see a money back guarantee and One.com offer a 15 day no quibble refund.

UKhost4U Hosting Review

UKHost4U are a UK company and have been around since 1999 which is about as long as it gets in the web hosting world.

The basic plan seems to cover everything a wordpress webmaster would need including cpanel with fantastico for that famous 1 click installation of wordpress. UKHost4U also offer more expensive packages, the reason you may want to go for those would be if you wanted to host multiple websites.

Paying for a year upfront gives 2 free months and paying this way also gets a free domain so that would definitely be the way forward I would think.

At the time of writing they have got a 30 day free trial available.
