Evohosting (http://www.evohosting.co.uk) is a UK host based in Maidenhead. Evohosting have been offering web hosting since 2004. When looking at whether they are a good host for wordpress they tick all the boxes.  Their control panel includes Installatron which makes installing the latest version of wordpress a doddle. It takes just a few minutes and once you have done it a few times you will be able to install wordpress in more like 30 seconds.

The Starter Plan is a great place to get started with hosting wordpress since if you are unsure how much bandwidth and webspace you will need why pay more now… You can upgrade at anytime. If you want more than one domain though look at their “Home” package which allows you to host ten domains. By paying annually instead of monthly you’ll save money and if you sign up for a biannual deal you’ll get money off as well as other bonuses.

They also have  a useful blog which is well worth a mention and includes wordpress tutorials.

nativespace (http://www.nativespace.co.uk/) is a UK hosting provider with HQ in West Yorkshire that offers 24 / 7 support and an advanced data centre in London.

Every web hosting package from nativespace comes with the widely used cPanel control panel and features fantastico deluxe to enable a one click install of wordpress (no FTP or zip files to worry about). One more nice feature is the continuous backups which mean that you will be able to restore your site should something go wrong.

Packages range from “Premier” which lets you host 1 domain to “multi 50″ which lets you host 50 domains and unlimited MySQL databases. There’s also reseller accounts and dedicated servers for more professional users.

To top it off nativespace offers carbon neutral hosting as standard.

Webhosting.uk.com Hosting Review

WebHosting UK (webhosting.uk.com) are a UK based hosting company that have all I like to see when considering hosting for wordpress. Even with their shared hosting package they have cpanel control panel equipped with Fantastico for the pain free one click install of the latest version of Wordpress as well as other open source applications such as php forums, Drupal and Joomla.

One stand out feature – especially useful for developers and affiliates is that you can host unlimited domains even on their cheapest Linux hosting shared packages. A dedicated IP (said to be good for SEO purposes) can be added to the Linux hosting as an optional extra. The data centres they use are in The UK as is the head office and support which is normally a good thing. When looking at hosting reviews,  most negatives are about offshore or ineffective support.

The company has some more encouraging features too – a 30 day money back guarantee, free transfers for existing websites, their own lively forums and 24 / 7 support.

Webhosting UK  also have an affiliate scheme where you can earn 25% commission on your referrals.

EZPZ hosting is a relatively small web hosting company started by a group of web designers when they became frustrated at the performance and support of a large hosting provider. With EZPZ you get great value UK hosting with good service.

Now I need to start by disclosing that EZPZ host this site, so if it’s slow you know what to think ;-)

So far I have been very happy with EZPZ hosting. The speed they answer my queries is in single digit minutes – it’s always nice to see that the after sales service is as quick as the pre-sales ! I have had to do a couple of technical things like request a restoration, and also used the automated back up system to restore a site I made a mess up of (they auto back-up 4 times day) and both were fine.

I find the cpanel very practical, mostly using the file manager, and of course fantastico for easy installation of wordpress and other programmes.

Sign up process was fine, no hidden costs and a very fast set up with plain English instructions on how to get started. Few minor points I noticed – they take paypal or credit card via Google checkout, they are carbon negative and have the 30 day no quibble money back guarantee that I always like to see.

Small and friendly ? You decide.

Heart Internet Hosting Review

Heart Internet is a relatively new web hosting provider but has been founded by two guys who founded another web hosting company called Web Fusion back in 1997.

The one click installer for Wordpress is included as is a whole raft of other extra services such as an analytics programme and a voucher for adwords ( Google’s paid advertising system ). As a seasoned cynic I wouldn’t be suprised if it’s possible to get this stuff free elsewhere without making a purchase but even so it’s convenient to have it all bundled with the web hosting packages.

Heart Internet have amongst their many features a “no-fuss” 30 day money back guarantee.

One final thing to mention is the heart internet blog which I had a browse through. It has some very helpful articles on web design / usability / marketing.

A2 hosting seems to tick all the boxes for a decent web hosting service – cpanel, fantastico, PHP 5, MySQL 5, a 30 day money back guarantee and also an interesting 99.9% uptime guarantee that allows you to make a claim for downtime.

The “Executive” plan allows for unlimited domains and they also have reseller accounts available as well as VPS and dedicated servers.

UK2 have been around since 1998 which seems an awful long time in the web hosting world !

Support is billed as ” 24 / 7 / 365 ” so I am especially interested to hear from UK2.net users how long the turnarounds are when they need some help. In 2009 they annunced that all support was to be brought in house so presumably this means better service levels in the future.

UK2 hosting include the 1 click install for wordpress on their control panel. On the home package you will be able to host upto 10 sites and get a free domain name thrown in.

pronethosting.net was created in 2001 and is a US host. Pronethosting.net states they have under 50% utilisation of their hardware and add additional capacity whenever they reach that point.

Pronethosting.net have fantastico installer scripts which makes installing wordpress a doddle.

Pronethosting.net have a 30 day money back guarantee which I always like to see.

WebHostingBuzz Review

WebHostingBuzz was founded in 2002 and hails from the USA.

They have fantastico for easy installation of wordpress, drupal or many other popular programmes.

They have the cpanel control panel which I personally love. I have seen prettier but cpanel is easy to navigate and use. It’s quite refreshing to see that they don’t have this “unlimited everything” policy, they have a few different packages at various levels.

It’s cheaper to pay for 12 or 24 months up front and they also have a 30 day money back guarantee that I alsways like to see.

What I like on their site is a section that says one of the reasons to go with them is : “Honesty – We’re not perfect”, I think this is a good statement. Every web host will have some problems at times, it’s how they deal with it that counts.
